Do you ever look at a successful person and wonder how they got where they are? You know the ones… they’re not any smarter or more connected than you are, but somehow they seem to be living their dreams.
It’s easy to look at others who’ve achieved their goals and wonder if you’re doing something wrong. Especially if you’re working hard and still not getting the results you want.
Here are three things I’ve learned from my own experience and from working with mentors that can help you get what you really want.
#1 Get Clear on What You Want
The reason most people don’t get what they want is because they never decide. They are never specific enough to see it in their minds. When you don’t decide what you want from the world, you’ll get whatever the world decides you should have.
You have to be bold enough to say, “This is what I want,” and you have to believe you deserve to have it. Some times we don’t ask for what we want in life because we don’t think we’re worthy. Especially women… we often think we need to be a certain size, or in a certain relationship, or that our house has to be perfectly clean.
But that’s not true. You can start getting what you want because you decide you want it. The word “desire” means “of the sire” or “of the father.” Whatever you desire is never out of reach for you because it was put there by your creator.
Maybe you’re not equipped to fulfill your vision yet, but God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the call. So many of us are too busy trying to equip ourselves that we never take the time to decide what we wanted in the first place.
Decide what you want. Write it down. Visualize it. The more it scares you, the better it is. Now you have to depend on something bigger than you to make it happen.
#2 Take Action
Once you’ve decided what you want, you can make a plan and take action. Now you know WHAT work to do and where to put your focus. Having that vision helps you know who to bring into your life to help you do the work.
You don’t get in a car and start driving and say, “I hope I end up somewhere great!” It doesn’t matter how good of a driver you are or even how nice your car is if you have no idea where you’re going. You decide FIRST where you’re going, then you map out your route, make sure your car is in proper working order, plan the stops along the way, and then enjoy the journey as much as the destination. When we work on what ignites us, work isn’t a boring burden or chore.
You’re filled with purpose, and the more actions you take, the more results you get that signal whether you’re heading toward your goal. Our Diva 1K club members get daily strategies on actions to take to bring their vision to life.
#3 Stay in a State of Gratitude
Gratitude isn’t so much something for you to do as it is a state of being. Many people operate in one of two planes;
The first is the competitive plane. These are the people who are constantly looking over their shoulder to see what everyone else is doing. Sometimes they’re even paranoid that others are out to get them. They’re in competition because they believe there’s not enough to go around. And trust me, this is not the key to help you get what you really want.
The second is the creative plane. People who operate in the creative plane believe there is an infinite supply for everyone. They’re thankful for the abundance that’s all around us. When you’re constantly grateful, you move closer to the source of what you want. Your subconscious is even more excited about getting more of what you’re grateful for. When we are connected to an infinite source, we never have to tear anyone else down. We’re only creating, not comparing or competing.
Some people wonder how or why they should be grateful when they don’t have what they want yet. Here’s the problem, that type of thinking means they don’t have a vision. A lot of people say, “I’ll be grateful when….” But it doesn’t work that way. Be grateful today that you can even have a vision. Think of times in the past when you’ve been prosperous and blessed and feel thankful.
I promise – when you set your vision, work your action plan, and walk in gratitude… you can expect to win.
